Amanda Bynes 'Can't Really Trust Anybody' After DUI Arrest, Hairstylist Says

Thrown back into the spotlight after her latest DUI arrest,Amanda Bynes is having trouble trusting those around her, a friend says. 

"She's very well aware that everyone's attacking her," says Lindsey White, a hairstylist who's worked on Bynes's mane several times in the last month. "She can't really trust anybody." 

For the past six months, Bynes – whom a source says is currently estranged from her parents – has been living in Orange County away from the spotlight, attending classes at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising following a few years of legal trouble and erratic behavior. 

Currently on three years' probation for a DUI arrest in 2012, she was hospitalized in the summer of 2013 after starting a small fire in a neighbor's driveway and placed under the care of her parents, Rick and Lynn, in atemporary conservatorship that recently ended, according to her father. 

White says that the former child star, 28 – whose personality is "extremely funny and goofy" – has never acted out at her salon or at her home, where the two have hung out in the last few months. 

"She is such a sweet person," White says. "It sucks that somebody doesn't even want to go outside to a restaurant because they're so paranoid about the way they look because they've been so trashed by the media." 

A fellow student at FIDM says Bynes, who majored in product development and wanted to start her own fashion line, "seemed stable about her life and about her career," but did note Bynes raised eyebrows by showing up to class sporting sunglasses. 

Though Bynes did stop coming to class in August before the quarter ended amid rumors that she was kicked out, "she wasn't out of control and she never threw a fit," the student says. 

According to White, Bynes stopped attending classes after undergoing a skin procedure. "She had all plans to finish school, but she had a few procedures done and didn't want to be in public at FIDM," she says. "She hated going to school." 

While the actress appeared not to have close friends at school, her fellow students "tried to be there for her," the classmate says. "We helped her out figuring out computer stuff and anything we could do to help her succeed. It makes me sad that this happened because she was honestly trying.
